The Ojochal Region

Although not as busy as most other regions, the village of Ojochal is a mixture of typical Costarican decor, sympathetic Ticos and the comfort everyone is loking for, there are many other highlights in this region. Here are some:

Playa Tortuga

Although completely destroyed by  Cesar and Mitch hurricanes in 1998, it offers a breathtaking view and unique fauna. If you’ re lucky, you ‘ll catch a glimpse of giant turtles.

Playa Venata

This beach ows its name to the numerous cavern you can visit at low tide only. It is supervised and has services.

Bellena National Park

Located between Pinula Peninsula and Morete river, Bellena park is the only marine park in the country, known for its great diversity.  Beaches, estuaries, islands, rocks, corals favor a great number of  marine species. Furthermore, this park features many beaches and attractions readily accessible.

  • Very quiet, Playa Pinula is one of the most beautiful spot of the park  and is a favorite meeting place of the local fishermen. On top of enjoying the sun and the location, you will be able to buy fresh fish and get to know the world of the Costarican fishermen.
  • The very long beach of Playa Bellena, with its great variety of trees, is , without a doubt, the perfect location for a stroll and to enjoy a wonderful sunset.
  • The Morete river joins the Pacific Ocean at Playa Bahia Uvita.With its 15 km of warm sand, you will discover another enchanting part of this country.
  • Known by all surfers, Playa Dominical will please those seeking the festive ambiance of the night life. With its many restaurants and businesses, you will learn about another aspect of the country and rub shoulders with the Ticos.

Boruca

To discover the traditions of the country, you can go to Boruca. Each year, the inhabitants of the region celebrate their victory over the Spanish conquistadors. Although a quiet region, its charm, culture and inhabitants will win you over. You will find precolumbian craft and  masks recalling hunting scenes and prayers, and all the many colors are made from local plants.

Chirripo National Park

Mount Chirripois the highest of all Central America. The most daring among you can climg it while others will be satisfied to take walks and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. On the other hand, going to Mount Chirripo  means staying overnight
